Chemical-Resistant Ultrasonic Sensors

Microsonic Ultrasonic Sensors for Aggressive Media, Chemical Exposure & Pressurized Process Applications

IBIS Electro-Products supplies Microsonic chemical-resistant ultrasonic sensors for non-contact distance measurement, level monitoring, and object detection in demanding industrial environments involving aggressive media, contamination, chemical exposure, washdown, or pressurized process conditions.

The range includes three distinct Microsonic families designed for different installation and application requirements: crm+, pico+TF, and hps+. Choose the family below based on sensing distance, housing construction, available mounting space, pressure requirements, and output/interface needs.

Selected Microsonic chemical-resistant sensor models are available with IO-Link for digital parameterization, process data, and diagnostics. IO-Link availability varies by family and model; check the individual product specifications for the required interface.

How the Three Families Differ

Choose the Microsonic chemical-resistant family according to the application:

  • crm+: Best starting point for general chemical-resistant distance measurement, level monitoring, and object detection. Stainless-steel M30 construction, broad sensing ranges, multiple output configurations, and selected IO-Link-enabled models.
  • pico+TF: Best suited to compact chemical-resistant fill-level applications. Uses an M22 PVDF sleeve and PTFE-protected transducer, with IO-Link available on switching-output versions.
  • hps+: Best suited to tank and vessel level measurement where both chemical resistance and elevated pressure capability are required.

Typical Applications

  • Chemical processing
  • Aggressive liquid level monitoring
  • Tank and vessel measurement
  • Paint and ink level monitoring
  • Granule and bulk-material level sensing
  • Filling and material-handling equipment
  • Washdown and chemical-cleaning environments
  • Pressurized tanks and process vessels
  • Applications involving contamination, deposits, or caking

How to Choose a Chemical-Resistant Ultrasonic Sensor

  • Application: Determine whether the requirement is distance measurement, object detection, or fill-level monitoring.
  • Chemical exposure: Consider the actual liquid, vapor, cleaning agent, contamination, and process conditions.
  • Operating range: Select the family and model around the normal working distance rather than only the maximum detection limit.
  • Housing and mounting: Compare the larger M30 crm+ design with the compact M22 pico+TF construction and the process-oriented hps+ configurations.
  • Pressure requirements: Use hps+ where the application involves pressurized tanks or vessels within the sensor’s specified pressure capability.
  • Output and interface: Confirm the required switching output, analog signal, or IO-Link interface. IO-Link is available on selected models but is not universal across the chemical-resistant range.
  • Installation environment: Consider temperature, contamination, mounting space, agitation, filling direction, and other process conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions About Chemical-Resistant Ultrasonic Sensors

Chemical-resistant ultrasonic sensors provide non-contact distance, level, and object sensing in applications involving aggressive media, chemical exposure, contamination, washdown, or demanding process conditions.

Choose crm+ for broad chemical-resistant distance, level, and object sensing; pico+TF for compact chemical-resistant fill-level measurement; and hps+ for tank and vessel applications requiring chemical resistance and elevated pressure capability.

crm+ uses a stainless-steel M30 housing and covers a broad range of distance, level, and object-detection applications. pico+TF uses a more compact M22 PVDF construction with a PTFE-protected transducer and is primarily designed for fill-level measurement of chemically aggressive liquids and granules.

crm+ is a general-purpose chemical-resistant ultrasonic family for distance, level, and object detection. hps+ is designed more specifically for tank and vessel level measurement involving aggressive media and elevated pressure.

Yes. Selected chemical-resistant Microsonic sensors are available with IO-Link. IO-Link-enabled models can provide digital parameterization, process data, and diagnostic information through a compatible IO-Link master.

Within this category, IO-Link availability depends on the family and individual model, so check the Interface column in the product table or the individual product specifications when selecting a sensor.

No. The chemical-resistant range includes IO-Link, conventional switching, and analog-output models. The required interface should be confirmed for the individual part number.

Yes. Provide the chemical or material being measured, required sensing distance, tank or vessel conditions, pressure, temperature, mounting requirements, and required output/interface. IBIS can help identify an appropriate Microsonic family and model.
