FDW-VA
Flexa FDW-VA Stainless Steel Spiral Helix Small Diameter Conduit
Flexa FDW-VA is a highly flexible small-diameter conduit made from an open stainless steel spiral helix for compact wire, cable, sensor lead, fiber optic bundle, and OEM conduit applications.
Unlike closed-profile small-diameter conduits, FDW-VA has an open spiral helix construction for flexible routing, reinforcement, and light-duty mechanical protection. It can also be purchased as the stainless steel core for an OEM’s custom conduit and combined with the manufacturer’s own braid, jacket, or other outer layers.
FDW-VA is often used by OEMs as the metallic backbone or reinforcement core for custom protective conduit constructions. Additional layers such as fiberglass braid, PVC, silicone, or PU jacketing can be added over the stainless steel helix to create application-specific conduit assemblies.
Best choice when a highly flexible stainless steel spiral helix is required for routing, reinforcement, light-duty mechanical protection, or use as the core of an OEM-built custom conduit.
Compared with SPR-VA, FDW-VA has an open spiral helix construction rather than a closed S-profile conduit wall. Compared with jacketed conduit families, FDW-VA is supplied as the unjacketed stainless steel helix option.
All FDW-VA small diameter conduit sizes share the following specifications:
- Material: Stainless Steel 304 (AISI)
- Temperature Range: -200°C to +600°C

Frequently Asked Questions About FDW-VA Stainless Steel Spiral Helix Conduit
What is FDW-VA stainless steel spiral helix conduit used for?
FDW-VA is used for compact wire, sensor lead, fiber optic bundle, and OEM conduit applications where a flexible stainless steel spiral helix is required for routing, reinforcement, light-duty mechanical protection, or use as the core of a custom conduit construction.
Is FDW-VA a closed-wall protective conduit?
No. FDW-VA has an open spiral helix construction rather than a continuous closed conduit wall. It is intended for flexible routing, reinforcement, light-duty mechanical protection, and use as a core in custom conduit assemblies.
When should I choose FDW-VA instead of SPR-VA?
Choose FDW-VA when an open stainless steel spiral helix is required for reinforcement, flexible routing, light-duty mechanical protection, or use as the core of an OEM-built custom conduit. Choose SPR-VA when a closed S-profile stainless steel conduit wall and no-stretch axial performance are required.
Can FDW-VA be used as a core for custom conduit assemblies?
Yes. OEMs can purchase FDW-VA as the stainless steel core for their own custom conduit and add fiberglass braid, PVC, silicone, PU, or other application-specific outer layers. The temperature rating of the completed assembly depends on the additional materials used.
Need Help Selecting the Right FDW-VA Spiral Helix Conduit?
If you are comparing FDW-VA with SPR-VA, SPR-VA-PVC, or a custom jacketed conduit construction, our team can help match the helix size, stainless steel construction, bend radius, and reinforcement requirements to your application.
