Heavy Duty Conduit Clamps
Robust Clamping Systems for Demanding Industrial and Transit Applications
The FLEXAquick® RQM series of heavy-duty conduit clamps is designed for secure mounting of corrugated conduits in single- and multi-conduit trunking runs. These clamps are widely used on passenger rail car rooftops and undercarriages, as well as in machine wiring and robot and cobot wiring applications, where dependable conduit fixing and strain relief are critical.
RQM clamps function as robust conduit mounting clamps, forming a rigid clamp block around the conduit to ensure it remains firmly in place even under vibration and mechanical stress.
Available in configurations from single to quad conduit, the RQM clamp family is both stackable and combinable, providing a modular solution that adapts easily to complex routing requirements.
For applications requiring conduit size reduction, cable-only clamping, or controlled conduit movement, the RQM clamp system can be configured with RQMR insert bushings and accessories.
FLEXAquick® quick-connect fittings and ROHRflex® flexible corrugated conduits are flagship product lines from IBIS Electro-Products Corp., specializing in high-performance electrical conduit systems for industrial automation, AI infrastructure, wind turbine nacelle wiring, and public transit vehicle applications.
How Heavy Duty Conduit Clamps Work
Heavy duty corrugated conduit clamps in the FLEXAquick® RQM series use a two-piece clamping design that securely fixes conduits in demanding installations.
Each clamp consists of two matching halves with semi-circular conduit channels. When the conduit is positioned between the halves and the mounting bolts are tightened, the two pieces form a rigid clamping block around the conduit.
This design distributes clamping pressure evenly around the conduit while providing high mechanical retention. Multiple clamps can also be stacked or combined to support organized multi-conduit trunking systems.
To reduce mechanical stress at the clamping point, the RQM clamp system can be used with RQMR-Move flexible insert bushings, which allow controlled conduit movement while maintaining secure retention. These inserts are part of the Heavy Duty Clamp Bushings family.
Choosing the Right Conduit Mounting Solution
| Product | Retention Level | Mounting Style | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| RQH | Light | Clip only | Machine wiring, control panels |
| RQH + RQHD | Light-Enhanced | Clip + cap | Applications requiring additional conduit retention |
| RQHG | Light-Enhanced | Clip & cap kit | Simplified installation where enhanced retention is needed |
| RQS | Medium | One-piece clip with hinged cap | Robot and cobot wiring, equipment installations |
| P-Clamps | Medium-Heavy | Wrap-around clamp | Higher retention conduit support |
| Heavy-Duty Conduit Clamps | Heavy | Bolt-mounted clamp | Railway, rooftop trunking, and high-vibration environments |
For applications requiring higher retention than conduit clips but less structural mounting than heavy-duty conduit clamps, see our Medium Duty Wraparound Clamps (P-Clamps).
Heavy Duty Clamp Bushings and Inserts
Heavy-duty conduit clamps may be configured with RQMR insert bushings to adapt conduit sizes, support cable-only clamping, or provide controlled conduit movement.
Available insert options include:
• RQMR reducer bushings — allow smaller conduits to be clamped within larger clamp sizes
• RQMR-Cable inserts — designed for clamping jacketed cable without conduit
• RQMR-Move inserts — flexible TPE bushings that reduce conduit wall stress at the clamping point while maintaining strain relief and secure retention
Typical Applications
Heavy duty conduit clamps are commonly used in installations requiring high mechanical retention and organized conduit routing, including:
Passenger rail vehicle rooftops and undercarriages
Wind turbine nacelle wiring
Industrial automation equipment
Machine wiring and robot and cobot wiring systems
Data Center Infrastructure conduit routing
Multi-conduit trunking installations
Frequently Asked Questions About Heavy Duty Conduit Clamps
What makes heavy duty conduit clamps different from conduit clips?
Heavy duty conduit clamps provide significantly higher mechanical retention and are designed for installations exposed to vibration, heavy loads, or multi-conduit routing. Light and medium duty conduit clips allow faster installation and easier conduit removal.
When should insert bushings be used with heavy duty clamps?
Insert bushings are recommended when conduit size reduction is required, when clamping jacketed cable directly, or when conduit movement must be controlled to reduce stress at the clamping point.
What is the purpose of the RQMR-Move insert?
The RQMR-Move insert is a flexible TPE bushing that wraps around the conduit before clamping. It allows controlled conduit movement within the clamp while maintaining strain relief and preventing conduit slippage.
Can heavy duty clamps support multiple conduits?
Yes. The RQM clamp family includes configurations for single, dual, triple, and quad conduit routing, allowing organized trunking of multiple conduits.
