The Microsonic bks-3/CIU is a compact ultrasonic web edge sensor for contact-free monitoring and positioning of paper, foil and other sound-impermeable web materials. Its ultrasonic operating principle allows reliable edge detection where optical sensing may be affected by material transparency, colour, changing light conditions or paper dust.
The sensor has a 30 mm fork width, 33 mm fork depth and an 8 mm (±4 mm) working range with 0.025 mm resolution. A single analogue output can be configured for either 4–20 mA current or 0–10 V voltage, providing a continuous signal proportional to the position of the material edge within the working range. Teach-in adjustment allows the required web position to be set directly at the sensor.
