Why Choose Microsonic mic+ Ultrasonic Sensors?
The mic+ family combines long detection capability, multiple output configurations, direct numerical setup, and a standard M30 cylindrical mounting format. Five operating-range classes allow the family to cover applications from shorter-distance sensing through long-range level and position measurement.
Integrated TouchControl with LED display simplifies commissioning and adjustment by allowing parameters to be set directly at the sensor.

- Tank, hopper, and container level monitoring
- Object presence and position detection
- Distance measurement on conveyors and material-handling equipment
- Stack-height and material-height monitoring
- Position feedback on automated machinery
- Packaging and filling equipment
- Palletizing and handling systems
- Applications where optical sensing may be affected by target colour, transparency, gloss, or reflectivity
How to Choose a mic+ Sensor
Start by selecting the operating range that best matches the normal working distance of the application:
- mic+25: 250 mm operating range
- mic+35: 350 mm operating range
- mic+130: 1,300 mm operating range
- mic+340: 3,400 mm operating range
- mic+600: 6,000 mm operating range
Next, select the required output and interface configuration. Depending on the model, options include switching outputs, analogue 4–20 mA / 0–10 V outputs, combined analogue and switching outputs, and selected Push-Pull switching versions with IO-Link.
The required sensing distance, output type, resolution, control-system interface, and application environment should all be considered before selecting a specific model.
Operating Range vs. Maximum Range
The operating range is the primary working-distance specification and should normally be used when selecting a sensor.
The maximum range represents farther detection capability that may be achievable with suitable target size, orientation, surface characteristics, and environmental conditions.
For dependable sensor selection, use the operating range as the primary design value rather than the maximum range.

Frequently Asked Questions About Microsonic mic+ Ultrasonic Sensors
What operating ranges are available in the Microsonic mic+ family?
The mic+ family is available in five operating-range classes: 250 mm, 350 mm, 1,300 mm, 3,400 mm, and 6,000 mm. The best choice depends on the normal working distance and target conditions of the application.
What is the difference between operating range and maximum range?
Operating range is the primary working-distance specification used for sensor selection. Maximum range is the farther distance at which a suitable target may still be detected under favourable conditions.
Do all Microsonic mic+ sensors support IO-Link?
No. IO-Link is available on selected mic+ models. Interface availability varies by model and should be confirmed for the individual sensor being selected.
What output options are available?
Depending on the model, mic+ sensors are available with switching outputs, analogue 4–20 mA / 0–10 V outputs, combined analogue and switching outputs, and selected IO-Link-capable switching versions.
What is TouchControl?
TouchControl is the integrated keypad and digital display used to configure the sensor directly. It can be used to set parameters and display the measured distance during installation and commissioning.
Can multiple mic+ sensors operate close together?
Yes. mic+ sensors support synchronization and multiplex operation for installations using multiple sensors in close proximity, helping reduce ultrasonic interference between adjacent sensors.
