Microsonic hps+ Ultrasonic Sensors
Chemical- and Pressure-Resistant Ultrasonic Sensors for Tank & Level Measurement
Microsonic hps+ ultrasonic sensors are designed for non-contact fill-level measurement of aggressive media in tanks and containers operating at atmospheric or elevated pressure.
The hps+ family combines a PTFE-protected ultrasonic transducer with an FFKM sealing O-ring and chemically resistant housing construction. Depending on the model, sensors use stainless steel or, on selected hps+340 versions, PVDF. Four operating-range classes are available from 250 mm to 3,400 mm, with measuring ranges extending up to 8,000 mm on selected models.
hps+ sensors are available with either two PNP switching outputs or one analog output plus one PNP switching output. The family also provides TouchControl, Teach-in or numeric configuration, temperature compensation, synchronization, multiplex operation, and LinkControl parameterization.

Why Choose Microsonic hps+ Ultrasonic Sensors
The hps+ family is designed for demanding tank and fill-level applications involving aggressive media and pressure.
The PTFE-protected transducer is sealed to the housing with an FFKM O-ring to provide a high degree of chemical resistance. Microsonic hps+ sensors can be used in tanks and containers with elevated pressures up to 6 bar, making the family particularly useful where standard ultrasonic sensors are not suited to the process conditions.
Special software filtering also supports applications where containers are filled from above or contain stirring systems, helping improve measurement reliability in challenging vessel conditions.
Key Features & Advantages
- Chemical- and pressure-resistant design: Built for fill-level measurement of aggressive media under normal or elevated pressure.
- PTFE-protected transducer: Helps protect the ultrasonic sensing surface from chemically aggressive media.
- FFKM sealing O-ring: Provides high chemical resistance between the transducer and housing.
- Pressure capability up to 6 bar: Suitable for selected tank and vessel applications operating above atmospheric pressure
- Four operating ranges: Available in 250 mm, 350 mm, 1,300 mm, and 3,400 mm operating-range classes.

How to Choose a Microsonic hps+ Sensor
- Operating range: Select from 250 mm, 350 mm, 1,300 mm, or 3,400 mm operating-range classes based on the normal working distance.
- Measurement distance: Selected models provide measurement ranges extending up to 8,000 mm.
- Pressure conditions: Confirm the required tank or vessel pressure and whether the application falls within the hps+ pressure capability.
- Switching outputs: Choose dual PNP switching-output models for discrete level or position control.
- Analog output: Choose an analog-plus-PNP model when continuous level measurement plus a switching signal is required.
- Housing / process connection: Confirm the required process connection and whether stainless steel or an available PVDF configuration is appropriate.
- Media compatibility: Consider the actual chemical, temperature, pressure, and sealing requirements before final sensor selection.
- Vessel conditions: Account for filling direction, agitation, stirring, foam, target geometry, and available mounting location.
Operating Range vs. Measurement Range
For hps+ selection, use the operating range as the primary working-distance specification.
The family is available with operating ranges of 250 mm, 350 mm, 1,300 mm, and 3,400 mm. Selected hps+ models provide measurement ranges extending up to 8,000 mm, but the model should be selected primarily around its specified operating range and the actual vessel conditions.
Need Help Selecting a Microsonic hps+ Sensor?
IBIS can help compare hps+ models based on operating range, measurement distance, pressure requirements, output type, process connection, media compatibility, and application environment.
