IBIS Electro-Products sells plastic body fittings and plastic conduit connectors.

Plastic body conduit fittings, also known as a conduit connector, are a type of fitting that has a plastic body, with threads that could be made of plastic or metal. Their purpose is to provide a termination or mounting solution to the ends of a protective conduit. The threaded portion of a plastic body conduit fitting is made to comply with one of the four common industry thread standards: NPT, Metric, PG or UNEF. Plastic body conduit connectors are most often used in conjunction with corrugated nylon or spiral type PVC plastic conduits.

Popular plastic body conduit fitting material is PA (polyamide) and PP (polypropylene). Plastic body conduit connectors that feature metal threads usually mold a threaded nickel-plated brass component into the plastic body. The metal threads add extra strength to the thread and are ideal for demanding applications like the under carriage of a railway passenger car.

Plastic body fittings with plastic or metal threads are used as a termination mounting means for protective plastic conduits. In liquidtight applications, the plastic body fittings grip onto the conduit ends and provide a mechanical means of fixing the conduit ends, while maintaining a liquidtight sealing level throughout the installation. The threaded ends of the plastic body conduit connectors are often threaded into an industrial rectangular multi-pin connector or pushed through a knockout hole in an electrical cabinet and secured with a locknut.

The use of plastic body conduit fittings with the appropriate plastic conduits, ensures a solid mechanical fixing of the conduit while providing the needed environmental and physical protection of the wire, cable, fiberoptics or pneumatic hoses used in the application.

The use of plastic body conduit fittings with the appropriate plastic conduits, ensures a solid mechanical fixing of the conduit while providing the needed environmental and physical protection of the wire, cable, fiberoptics or pneumatic hoses used in the application. This ensures your installation is protected from the ingress of moisture, dust or debris.

Not every application needs this level of protection. If this is the case, you may want to consider using a plastic conduit without plastic body fittings or a split, two-piece style corrugated nylon conduit.

Plastic body fittings shouldn’t be used if your application has no risk of liquid, debris, or any environmental concerns then you can just use plastic conduit instead.
