IBIS Electro-Products Offers Metal Body Fittings & Metal Connectors Worldwide

IBIS Electro-Products sells metal body fittings and metal connectors.

Metal body fittings are a type of conduit fitting, also known as a conduit connector, that is completely made from metal. Both the body portion and the threaded end are made of metal. Metal body fittings are mostly used with metal conduits. There are some installations where a metal body fitting is used with non-metallic conduit. In the case of harsh chemicals, a metal body fitting could be combined with a polyurethane (PU) plastic spiral conduit or in a very high temperature or flame exposed application, the metal body fitting could be used with a calcium silicate soft walled protective conduit. This would be the case near welding robots where splatter is often a problem.

Popular metal body conduit fitting material is steel, stainless steel, and nickel-plated brass.

Metal body fittings with metal threads are used as a termination mounting means for protective flexible metal conduits. In liquidtight applications, the metal body fittings grip onto the conduit ends and provide a mechanical means of fixing the conduit ends, while maintaining a liquidtight sealing level throughout the installation. The threaded ends of the metal body conduit connectors are often threaded into an industrial rectangular multi-pin connector or pushed through a knockout hole in an electrical cabinet and secured with a locknut.

The use of metal body conduit fittings with the appropriate metal and certain plastic conduits, ensures a solid mechanical fixing of the conduit while providing the needed environmental and physical protection of the wire, cable, fiberoptics or pneumatic hoses used in the application.

The use of metal body conduit fittings with the appropriate flexible metal liquidtight or non-liquidtight conduits, ensures a solid mechanical fixing of the conduit while providing the needed environmental and physical protection of the wire, cable, fiberoptics or pneumatic hoses used in the application. This ensures your installation is protected from the ingress of moisture, dust or debris.

Not every application needs this level of protection. If this is the case, you may want to consider using a flexible metal conduit without metal body fittings.

Metal body fittings shouldn’t be used if your application has no risk of liquid, debris, or any environmental or mechanical mounting concerns affecting the installation of the conduit. In this case, you can simply use a flexible conduit run instead.
